Not so way-back Wednesday

I'm running out of old pictures and need to get some more scanned.
I think this was my sophomore year. The lack of hair-brushing and Clearasil frightens me.

Senior Walk. I think this is a Texas thing. You have a "date" or partner (I barely knew this guy) and join each other on stage and they announce your name and - I can't remember - but maybe what you were involved in as well. In my case, they would have said something like "Kelli _______. Thespians. And attendance. Most of the time. But not happily. And why aren't you wearing a bra?!"

This is about a year after I had a personal crisis and cut all of my hair off to about an inch long. Growing out nicely, hmm? My sister Amy is the one right in front of the door (wearing an odd updo?). Some of you from my ward may recognize Christy to the left of me.

Way-back Wednesday

Mini-me

I call this the dinosaur smile. Specifically T-Rex.

Not too way-back, 2000 at my sister Amy's wedding. That's Amy, Chandler, me and Hunter. I can't believe how young they are. I had just met Bryce the night before, and he came to this reception, alone, just to see me. Good times.

Way-back Wednesday

Apparently we cut my hair using tweezers and a chisel. Except for those bangs... man, those are the straightest thing I've ever seen!

9th grade.
Camp. Eek.

Way-back Wednesday

I hereby solemnly swear to never send one of my future daughters to school wearing a Scarlett O'Hara reject dress.  Or one with bells sewn into the hem.  Or with that haircut.

Wow, if I didn't already suffer from "cross-eye" in this picture, those glasses would have certainly created that illusion.  Wow, I think I'm wearing a blue sweater vest over a blue polo.  My eyes weren't that bad; what was wrong with me????

Not really that way back, 1999, but I had to post something decent-looking after that last picture.  This was a cast party after I performed in Grease in college.  (Check out the mug on that guy in the chair.)

Way-back Wednesday

There just aren't a whole lot of candids of me, that's why these are all studio and school stuff!
Dorky though I may look, I think I'm pretty dang cute here.

5th grade.  I was in love with Jamie Stewart.  This was taken on the very day I was devastated to overhear him and another girl talking about how I needed deodorant.  Oh, yeah?  Well, your hair was ugly, Jamie!

8th grade.  Another example of how I dressed so unlike me for picture day.  I never wore button down shirts, or pink!  But I did love those earrings.  I still have them.  And at some point, you will see me wearing them.  Because I still do.

Way-back Wednesday

I'm going to run out of pictures soon; I really don't have that many.

Mom, me and Ashley.

Some random guy had a little horse in our neighborhood, and for some reason, we got pictures on it. Yeehaw.

I must be about 14 here, and I was so utterly, completely, heart-breakingly in love with this guy. It was devastating. Some of you know who he is. I wonder if he ever knew... We still have some common connections, so it's very possible he'll know soon.

Thank Goodness it's Wednesday...

...or I would have nothing to post today.
Since I turn 31 next week, I figured I should post this birthday picture. Turning 4, with my mom and Amy.

That's the trademark Kelli facial expression. Ewan does it, too. I don't know how old I am here...
My mom, looking virtually unrecognizable, my dad, me, Amy & Ashley. It was cold, which I think is what was coming out of Ashley's mouth, possibly mixed with an expletive or two.

Me, I think 22 years old, with an old friend. Proof that I haven't always been a Pillsbury Dough Boy groupie and at some point in my life did refrain from cookies.

Way-back Wednesday

I remember being aware of it as a kid, that I never dressed like myself on picture day. All of the school pictures I have, I am wearing something that was totally NOT me. I didn't find my real personal dressing groove until nearly 8th grade, anyway, but even into high school, I dressed like a soccer mom on picture day, the one day of the year I should look like ME for sure. It's a mystery.

Ashley and me. I don' t know where these dresses came from, but they really were McDonald's. I wish I had some of those striped tights now.

Ashley, baby Amy, and me. In another picture taken around this time, I wasn't sitting quite so lady-like. It won't be making an appearance on this blog.

8th grade, possibly. I call this one "Triangle-hair," or "Brushed-out perm." As an adult, I'm confused as to why I constantly got perms as a kid. My hair is actually naturally quite curly. After this picture was taken, the necklace tried to strangle me.

I promise I will be posting something decent soon. I feel like all I've done lately is post pictures and boring stuff. Hopefully I find time to write at the same time I'm hit with inspiration. Good luck to me.

Way-back Wednesday: Evolution

I have so many pictures scanned now, thanks to Shannon, and I can't ever decide which are the best to post. So I think I'm gonna do an "evolution" each week, showing my various stages of horror, and those where I looked like I actually had somewhat of a clue.

Why the yellow tights, Mom? Why?

That's one mean mullet.

Missing from this picture, besides bangs, a Barbie I got for Christmas.

Me at graduation with the same friend I posted once before. Thank the beauty industry for tweezers.

Way-back Wednesday, way late

So, I almost forgot about this, but Erica's post about glasses prompted a comment from me, and I remembered I had some lovely pictures that demonstrated exactly what I was talking about.
Here I am about 4 years old. Wearing bifocals, and had been for a year. See, I never did have a chance...

Wow.

Ashley and Amy my sisters, and yours truly. This is actually kind of funny. Those are real fur coats. I'm torn, as an animal lover and avid hater of the fur industry, my adult self is horrified. But I remember petting that coat at night as it hung on the corner of my bed. So soft. Perhaps Edgar the Rabbit's behavior was some sort of cosmic payback. (I was going to link an old post to "Edgar the Rabbit" to remind all of his behavior. But when I went to get the link, there were actually too many posts referring to him.)

Man, I'm starting to look forward to these Wednesdays. Old, ugly, embarrassing pictures are SO.MUCH.FUN.

Ambivalence

The fact that the plug to my hair-dryer is dripping water for some mysterious reason has me simultaneously relieved that I don't have to endure that tedious task and horrified that sleeping with my hair wet while short will result in me waking up looking like Carrot Top with a bad dye job. Or something. Whatever, it can't be worse than this:
Again, click for the full effect. That first picture is 9th grade with one of my best high school friends. I can't tell you her name or where she works now, because then I'd have to kill you. And she'd have to kill me. Some may laugh at my hair in that picture, but I actually think it's kind of kicky. The second is me and Jenna, dressed up for some ancient cultural event at high school. Ugh, we walked around like this for hours. She was an ancient Grecian, and I was, well, someone in a kimono with an Amy Winehouse wig and giant moon on her head. The third is eighth grade. I am glaring at someone, my specialty. It's funny, that picture was taken with people who were not really my friends, much, just like last week. Why do I have so many of those?

Way-back Wednesday

My turn! I took some old pictures over to Sarah's to get them scanned. But I was lazy and trying to make it easy on Sarah, so we scanned several together. I'll probably rescan them sometime soon, and it helps that Ashley has a scanner now, too. So here are three pictures from different eras of my life, click on them for easier viewing:
That first one is when my hair was literally 50% bangs, and I'm cuddling one of my many cats. Then there's me in eighth grade with some friends. Wow. And the third is me and my sister, Amy. That one is a more accurate representation, because I had to get thick bifocals when I was three years old, and wore them until 7th grade. Ugh.
